“Do you fall into #MalnutritionTraps?”

Solving the Philippines’ Double Burden of Malnutrition should be a collaborative effort between the public and private sectors as it is not an easy feat. With this, Ajinomoto Philippines Corporation partnered with government agencies to conduct education programs to raise awareness and promote the practice of Pinggang Pinoy® in malnutrition hotspots, where incidences of Double Burden Malnutrition are high. This training was given to homemakers/mothers who have malnourished (underweight, stunting, wasting, overweight and obese) school-aged children.

The pilot run resulted in improvements in the knowledge & attitudes of households related to the practice of Pinggang Pinoy® within target areas. However, behavior changes towards healthier eating habits remain to be a challenge. The program uncovered a number #MalnutritionTraps that some Pinoy households easily fall into. The following #MalnutritionTraps provide a picture of how unhealthy eating habits may lead to Double Burden of Malnutrition:

Overconsumption of carbohydrates: Voracious rice eaters can easily fill half of their plates with rice. Others have pandesal & noodles as regular meal deprived of other nutrients derived from a well-balanced meal. 

Underconsumption of vegetables and/fruits: It is common for some to be content with rice & meat to satisfy their hunger and skip/take the insufficient amount of vegetables/fruits. Fact is, the variety of colors found in Glow foods are important sources of vitamins & minerals to sustain our energy & keep us from getting sick.

Overconsumption of protein: Typical Filipino “SILOG” meals include a double serving of proteins (e.g. Tapa+Itlog, Tocino+Itlog, Longanisa+Itlog, Bangus+Itlog). Eating different kinds of protein is fine for as long as they are taken in moderation. We must also avoid protein dishes served high in fat, cholesterol, and sodium.

According to Shiella B. Lim, MD of MakatiMed’s Department of Otorhinolaryngology, the three most common results of injury to the vocal cords are: nodules, polyps, and cysts. Though they all have little differences, they share one underlying cause: overusing one’s voice. They usually result from such seemingly harmless activities as shouting at a sports match or singing without resting. Many times, these lesions can develop into voice disorders that require surgery to be treated.

“Vocal cord nodules are calluses in the vocal cords, and often present problems by making you hoarse or voiceless” she says. “They’re more commonly seen in female adults than men, and in children of both genders. Patients with vocal fold nodules usually have a history of vocal abuse or misuse. This is the most common type of lesion found in singers.”

Macanas and Guerrero mentioned that there are two ways to unlock the Vivo X21, through the Face ID Access with Infrared that accurately identifies a user’s facial features even in nighttime and the In-Display Fingerprint Scanning Technology that replaces the rear fingerprint sensor. Vivo is the industry pioneer of In-Display Fingerprint Scanning Technology.

Aside from pioneering features, the pair also talked about Vivo X21’s photography-related specs. The 12 megapixel+5MP dual rear camera and the 12MP front camera with Dual Pixel Sensor. These impressive hardware specs are even boosted by the X21’s AI features like the AI Face Beauty and AI HDR.

In terms of performance, the Vivo X21 proved to be a hard worker, said Macanas and Guerrero. After all, the X21 is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 660AIE chip that can process complex AI and neural computing. It has a 6GB RAM + 128GB ROM to improve the speed of launching, loading, and switching including large and complex mobile games.

To complement all these, Vivo X21 has a 6.28-inch 19:9 FHD+ FullView™ Display with a 90.3% screen-to-body ratio for every user’s viewing pleasure.

Moreover, Guerrero, a music-lover, even praised Vivo for continuing its Hi-Fi legacy in the X21. The smartphone is equipped with Deep Field technology, which was developed by Vivo to provide panoramic surround, mega bass, clear voice effects and various environmental audio effects, allowing users to customize their audio experience.

Don't Let Negativity Rule Over You

These past weeks, I felt so empty. It's like there's a piece of my body that's so incomplete. My daily routine seems so boring.

If you know me, I am a SAHM and alone at home taking care of my son while my hubby is on his voyage for a couple of weeks without communication. I have faced a little bit challenges in our church specifically in leadership. I've been stressed and pressured for what's happening in our surroundings. As a member of our church for almost 16 years, I am so blessed and happy serving the Lord, but it seems that happiness became bitterness little by little.

Being a leader you should set a good example for others, but what if your leaders keep acting like a deaf and doing not but say sorry? Also, what if those leaders are so dependent on others? Even for the very simple things they cannot fix - just stare and relax you don't even see the pressure to them. And lastly, what if those leaders are not communicating with each other and even don't confront problems and it seems they were avoiding to talk about main problem?

What would you feel if your leaders are not united?

Discouragement is one of the biggest things that I prayed and hope that never happen to me. But I am just human being living this old nature and negative things can affect my body and soul and mind anytime too because of circumstances. I admit to myself that most of the time, I become a nagger, overreacting to things if I hear something, I always wanted to confront person right away if there is something wrong to avoid conflicts.

Ma suwerte ang iba dahil maaga naka akto ang kanilang mga asawa sa barko at nagkaroon agad ng sariling bahay, magandang negosyo at ipon at meron na namang minalas na kahit anong laki ang sahod sa barko pero walang na iipon at mas malaki pa ang utang sa banko kaysa sahod ng asawa na nasa barko. Kaya iba-iba ang story ng mga marino at mga hamon na kanilang pinagdadaanan di lahat may magandang story.

Sa Pilipinas maraming mga pamilya ang umaasa sa mga kamag anak na may trabaho. Sa ayaw natin at gusto o iilag man tayo yan talaga ang totoo. Maraming pamilyang Pilipino ang naghihiwalay dahil sa hirap ng buhay kahit masakit at labag sa kalooban ay kaylangan umalis mag ibang bansa upang mabigyan ng marangyang buhay ang kanilang mga pamilya at mga anak.

Subalit hindi lahat ng nag aabroad ay ma suwerte sa kanilang mga kamag anak na naiwan dito. Marami akong nakilala at nakausap na ang problema nila ay pag nasa abroad ang kapatid kamag anak di sila mag dalawang isip na mang hinge ng pera dahil wala silang pera dito at walang trabaho. Ang masaklap pa mangungumusta lang sila mag "WAVE" pag may kailangan.

ZD's 4th Birthday

Last March 24th, my Zd bear turned four, we're grateful and thankful to God that He added another year of our son's life.

Being his parent to him, I am so proud that I have Zd in my life. He is one and the most precious gifts from God that I have. He is the joy and strength of our family.

Every birthday of my son we think and prepare a simple party for him since we are not rich and don't have lots of money but we always wanted to make his birthday something special.

The past 3 years, I was always the one who plans and arranges for his birthday but right now it's different. Since Zd already knows what he wants and shared his thoughts with me when I asked him what he wanted on his birthday.

Vivo unveils the all-new ‘V9’ AI-powered FullView™ display smartphone in the Philippines

Global smartphone brand Vivo has revealed its all-new sleek and stylish V9 flagship unit
at the City of Dreams Manila in a summer-themed unveiling that was attended by over
200 members of the press and other guests.

Vivo welcomed its guests late Thursday afternoon at the Wave, a contemporary
poolside deck, restaurant, and bar so they can experience the V9 and take selfies and
photos with the sunset as their backdrop. Vivo then picked one lucky and creative photo
posted on Instagram to win a V9 unit.

Vivo executives led by Brand Director Annie Lim answered some of the questions of the media during the V9 press launch.

The program continued at the City of Dreams Grand Ballroom with Myx VJ Ai Dela Cruz as the host. They were formally welcomed by Vivo Brand Director Annie Lim who recapped the smartphone company’s feats in the Philippines. Since it entered the Philippine market in 2016, Vivo has been steadily rising to become the country’s top three brands with over 5,200 stores and 1.5 million users nationwide.

Vivo’s Jomari Morales followed Lim's remarks by presenting all the goods on the V9. She highlighted the Vivo V9’s 90% screen-to-body ratio, the 24-megapixel selfie camera and 16MP+5MP dual read camera, and the AI-powered photography for a “perfect view” and a “perfect shot.”

Saan Aabot ang 1,000.00 mo ZD?

Last week Zd & I went to SM Fairview. Before anything else even though I am on and off in my blogging, I thank God because there are opportunities coming even if it is rare but I am happy. Last week, I received worth of 1,000.00 SM gift check from one of my PR posts since this month is my Zd's birthday I decided to give and buy him some t-shirts for him because most of his t-shirts do  not fit him.

He's very happy knowing that we're heading to SM. When we get there he brought the basket and chose his t-shirt and I was surprised because when I checked what he has chosen I said "Oh no! it's very expensive" I look at him and whisper "Zd you only have 1,000.00 so we need to put that back in the proper place and choose another one, yung mas mura jan, okay?" My poor Zd answered "Okay!" politely.

Grace Women Warriors (GWW) Local Women's Fellowship

Being in a Spiritual group, specifically women's group in our church is a blessing to me. Our world right now is full of glamorous offers, but as a woman we should be careful about who we mingle with and we should be vigilant because the force of influence in this world is very strong when you start to latch with it it's very hard to unravel it. The word of God says in first Peter chapter 5 verse 8 "Be sober, be vigilant; because of your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour".

As a mom, sometimes we need an outlet, we need prayers, comforts, and especially we need the word of God. Our church has an organization for women and we also have  a regular fellowship.

August 2017, our local church had a local women's fellowship. Though some of the women in our church were very busy and it's hard for us to catch each other's schedules, we thank God because we always find time together and our fellowship was made happen. During our local fellowship, Ms. Nilyn of Above Precious Rubies taught us about taking care of our skin and face the basic tips we're all glad that we did the joyful moment together.

What are the qualities that a woman should look for in a guy?

A woman needs to look for someone who is God fearing because if a man fears God, he will be loyal, faithful, committed, responsible, and honest. These are traits that any woman should want for in a man. A man like this will never make you worry or fear that he will go astray.

What are the qualities that a man should look for in their future partners?

A man needs to look for a woman who is capable of being their partner in life, not just in the bedroom. They need to find someone with a humble heart and someone who prioritizes their relationship over their pride.

How can you have a relationship that is good for both parties?

A relationship that preserves the dignity of the other person is always a good indication. When there is mutual trust and mutual respect, when a relationship is rooted in prayer and kindness then reinforced by communication, you know that it is beneficial to both parties.
